Phoenix Vacation

We finally took a vacation to Phoenix with our dogs. In the past we flew to Phoenix so the dogs would have to stay home (I can't imagine putting them in a crate so they could be loaded into the cargo bay of the plane - Kyzer would be a wreck!!). This time we braved the 12 hour drive south with Chase and Brian following us in Brian's car, and we were glad we did!! Not only did we visit Casey and Jake but we also saw 311 and Snoop Dogg in concert, kicking off the 311 Summer Unity Tour 2008.

Shelby, Kyzer and Nyah loved to swim in the pool, even though the water was a little green at first (but it cleared up). Nyah would get in whenever she felt like it, but Shelby and Kyzer would wait for us to swim with them. We bought Shelby an orange life vest so it would be easier on her arthritic legs to keep her head above the water. Kyzer and Nyah enjoyed swimming with and without a life vest, so whenever we felt they were getting tired, we'd strap a vest on them and they were good to go for another round. Roxy is one of the dogs that live at Jake and Dirty's house and Kyzer didn't seemed bothered one bit to give her a ride around the pool - check out the video below!

We ate an amazingly delicious meal at Digestif, the restaurant where Casey, Jake, and Dirty work. They all hooked us up with some great eats! We met many of their friends, but were most excited to meet Brook - Jake's Girlfriend, and Gloria - Casey's Girlfriend. We didn't have a set schedule of things we wanted to do (except the 311/Snoop Dogg concert on Tuesday the 24th) so it was a pretty laid back vacation. Tyler went and shot guns with the boys - Casey, Jake, Dirty, Chase, Brian and some of their other friends, check out the other video. Laura opted to go shopping with Kathy and Gloria at Fashion Square Mall instead. Plus it was about 110 degrees and the mall has air conditioning!!

Tyler, Laura, Jake, Chase and Brian went to SunSplash water park on Sundy. Tyler and Jake reminisced about going to SunSplash "back in the day" with all their friends. It was fun to hear the stories they'd tell, but the people watching there was the best!! I never knew you could gauge nipples, but you can!! So if you have ever wondered about doing it and thought it wasn't possible, well it is!

We packed up and once again braved the 12 hour drive home. Even though it is a long drive, it is quite the senic drive which keeps it interesting (up until you get back on I-15 at Beaver). We had a great time in Phoenix relaxing, and can't wait to hang out with everybody again.

Life in Logan

Tyler has been spending most of his time in Logan working on his dad's little construction project. And by little construction project, I mean ginormous construction project. But don't worry, the dogs find many ways of intertaining themselves on his dad's 10 acres, especially Nyah. Nyah hunted, killed and ate a bird, but she was kind enough to bring it's heart back to his dad and Chase to share. Tyler's dad has a bunch of baby phesants which Kyzer loves to sniff, lick and watch. I think he is mezmorized by the sounds they make, the way they smell and how they move. Shelby is doing The Shelby, and makes sure that she doesn't get shorted any naps or treats. His dad's neighbor has about 7 Brama Bulls used in rodeos on his property and Nyah loves to wander over there and harrass them. She gets them all fired up. Tyler and his dad have been very busy digging up and setting huge rocks around the house for the landscape, putting up concrete forms for foundations, pouring concrete, moving dirt, taking the forms down, moving more dirt, digging out a foundation for the shop at the bottom of the property and that's just the beginning...
