The Best News We Have Heard Since April 2007!!

Whoever said "The 3rd Times the Charm" never broke their wrist! Tyler had his 5th surgery on his wrist on Sep. 23. We were hoping that this would really be his last surgery. He was in his last cast for 6 weeks post-op. We lost count around the 13th or 14th cast... We were so stoked to find out from the X-Rays that Tyler's metacarpals (wrist bones) finally decided to fuse together! He may be short 2 metacarpals in that wrist, but he doesn't mind, just as long as the damn thing heals and he can go on pain-free. His optimal range of motion in that wrist is 30 degrees (a right angle is 45). In order to reach the 30 degrees goal, he goes to physical therapy twice a week. Physical therapy is painful, but we both were very excited that he could start it back up again. The last time he had physical therapy was a year ago, and he only had about 2-3 sessions when the physical therapist felt like something was wrong. Tyler was in way too much pain during the physical therapy sessions. We never went back to therapy until now. I was so excited when the doctor told us that he only needed to wear a brace when it gets achy and to start physical therapy. It was like Christmas morning in October. Needless to say, Tyler isn't completely out of the surgery woods. If he can't get his range of motion up to 30 degrees, he will need to have the scar tissue cut to allow for his wrist to move. Despite all of the surgeries, pain, casts, braces, doctor visits, X-Rays, and pain pills Tyler has come out a stronger person - unlike his right wrist!! Hope for 30 Degrees and I don't mean Temperature!!

Figured it Out - Finally!!!

Well, I figured out how to customize our blog. I was feeling a little out of the loop. I swear everyone at work has a blog. Up until about 6 months ago I didn't know what a blog was!

Here is a quick overview of the last few months in Wallinville:

*Tyler was in Logan all summer working on his Dad's ginormous home remodel.
*We learned the hard way ($120 emergency carpet clean) that Nyah can't be left home alone while I'm at work and Tyler is in Logan
*Shelby and I spent the summer together while Tyler and I shared custody of Kyzer (one week he would be up in Logan and the next he would be with me at home)
*Nyah and Tyler spent some good Daddy/Daughter time together in Logan
*Tyler and I bought a new truck
*I thought I got ringworm from work but found out it was a pretty bad allergic reaction. To what? you might ask. Beats me....
*Nyah found the ONLY mud puddle in 10 acres and ran through it....multiple times
*There were 3-4 known pheasant fatalities at the hands....paws....of Nyah
*Sheby was doin' The Shelby all summer long
*Nyah cut her leg on the construction job and was coned up for about 2 weeks
*We celebrated our 6th Anniversary!!
*I went to Bodyworld with my friends
*Shelby had her first friend sleep over with Kim
*Tyler had his 5th, yes that is right, 5th surgery on his wrist (keep your fingers crossed....)
*Tyler celebrated his 33rd birthday - it's going to be a great year!!
*We hosted a wedding at our home for my best friend Keely
*And, I finally figured out this blog thing - I think...

Now you are officially up to speed with the Wallins.

Nyah cut her leg on a piece of sheet metal while "working" on the construction site.

She had to be coned for about 2 weeks while her on-the-job injury healed.

The dogs in our new truck - I'm not sure if Shelby likes it...

Phoenix Vacation

We finally took a vacation to Phoenix with our dogs. In the past we flew to Phoenix so the dogs would have to stay home (I can't imagine putting them in a crate so they could be loaded into the cargo bay of the plane - Kyzer would be a wreck!!). This time we braved the 12 hour drive south with Chase and Brian following us in Brian's car, and we were glad we did!! Not only did we visit Casey and Jake but we also saw 311 and Snoop Dogg in concert, kicking off the 311 Summer Unity Tour 2008.

Shelby, Kyzer and Nyah loved to swim in the pool, even though the water was a little green at first (but it cleared up). Nyah would get in whenever she felt like it, but Shelby and Kyzer would wait for us to swim with them. We bought Shelby an orange life vest so it would be easier on her arthritic legs to keep her head above the water. Kyzer and Nyah enjoyed swimming with and without a life vest, so whenever we felt they were getting tired, we'd strap a vest on them and they were good to go for another round. Roxy is one of the dogs that live at Jake and Dirty's house and Kyzer didn't seemed bothered one bit to give her a ride around the pool - check out the video below!

We ate an amazingly delicious meal at Digestif, the restaurant where Casey, Jake, and Dirty work. They all hooked us up with some great eats! We met many of their friends, but were most excited to meet Brook - Jake's Girlfriend, and Gloria - Casey's Girlfriend. We didn't have a set schedule of things we wanted to do (except the 311/Snoop Dogg concert on Tuesday the 24th) so it was a pretty laid back vacation. Tyler went and shot guns with the boys - Casey, Jake, Dirty, Chase, Brian and some of their other friends, check out the other video. Laura opted to go shopping with Kathy and Gloria at Fashion Square Mall instead. Plus it was about 110 degrees and the mall has air conditioning!!

Tyler, Laura, Jake, Chase and Brian went to SunSplash water park on Sundy. Tyler and Jake reminisced about going to SunSplash "back in the day" with all their friends. It was fun to hear the stories they'd tell, but the people watching there was the best!! I never knew you could gauge nipples, but you can!! So if you have ever wondered about doing it and thought it wasn't possible, well it is!

We packed up and once again braved the 12 hour drive home. Even though it is a long drive, it is quite the senic drive which keeps it interesting (up until you get back on I-15 at Beaver). We had a great time in Phoenix relaxing, and can't wait to hang out with everybody again.
